Finally, we have added a .com domain to our site. Our previous domain was http://www.source-codes.co.in and if you click on it, you will see that the site opens with our new domain. This because we have forwarded http://www.source-codes.co.in to http://www.blogtipscodes.com by changing the DNS settings of our old domain name. This process is known as Domain Forwarding or Domain Redirecting.
Both our new and old domain is hosted by godaddy. Now, if you want to change your domain without losing your readers then Domain Forwarding is the best method to learn. Also, you will get the old domain's traffic from the search engine as your Domain is forwarded. To see a demo click on the demo below :
Suppose you have a search engine link like this one :

When you click on the link you will see that the old domain is being forwarded to the new one. That way, traffic from your old domain will remain intact until the search engines have crawled your new domain. Once your new domain has been crawled by Google Webmasters Tools , then you can simply the remove the old domain from the Google Webmasters Tools and your old domains would slowly get removed from the search engine.
Now, let us have a look at how you can apply a Domain Forwarding( for godaddy.com only ) from supposedly http://www.example1.com to http://www.example2.com
1> First go to your godaddy.com account.
2> Next to domains, click on launch.
3> Then in the Domain Manager, you will see your registered domains.
4> Suppose you want to forward example1.com to example2.com, then first go to the Edit
Zone page your example1.com.
Under A(Host), provide @ and under Points to provide 64.202.189.170
Under CNAME(Alias), the www should point to @. If there is no www, then you can simply add on by clicking on "Quick Add".
5> Then save your zone file.
6> Then go back to domain manager and select the domain you want to forward and click on forward. Then type the name of the domain you want to forward to. Click on OK.
Then you wait for at least 3-4 hours before your domain forwarding is enabled. When domain forwarding is active, your old domain should forward to your new domain.
